TIPS FOR BOOKING CHEAP FLIGHTS

tips for booking cheap flights

Tips for booking cheap flights is a con…you simply cannot get very cheap flights!”

FALSE!

End of article. Just kidding.

Whilst travel companies and airlines paint a magical world of super cheap airfare tickets for less than a pint of milk, the reality is, they’re never real or too inaccessible.

Or are they?

Are airline ticket prices getting cheaper, or more expensive?

In 2017 – is it possible to find out how to find cheap airline tickets?

Pay attention…

For years we’ve scanned the internet and tried almost every little trick in the book to squeeze every last penny out of airline ticket prices and fly cheap.

And we want to share these little (but amazing) flight hacks with you.

The principles found in these tips can be applied to any destination in the world.

We’ve come up with the best 9 tips for booking cheap flights. We will debunk all the silly talk about airline ticket prices and answer these common questions:

  1. Where to look for cheap flights.

Top 9 tips for booking cheap flights

1. Book on Tuesday

Yes! This is real.

Airline ticket prices are cheaper if you book on a Tuesday.

You can get these very cheap flights if you wait until 2pm on a Tuesday.

However, it’s possible to find cheap airfare tickets by searching for a flight on a Tuesday morning.

We’ve tried this little trick and it works.

We saved £30 as a couple when we booked flights on a Tuesday to Greece.

This is one of the best tips for booking cheap flights – that’s why it’s our number one.

Why?

“I personally would shop at the weekend and the beginning of the week and avoid Friday.” – Greg Schulze, Expedia

Because the bots at the travel companies allow computer systems to base airline ticket prices according to search volume. Yes, they know when you’re home searching and when you’re in work, pretending to work.

If you’re looking for the best tips for cheap flights to Europe, try this one.

2. Use a flight comparison site

Where can I book cheap flights?”

Don’t go all guns blazing and jump on to an airline website to find airfare tickets.

Use a comparison site – a good one.

Always check 2 or 3 different comparison sites to be an airfare compare expert.

Tips for booking cheap flights: Top comparison sites

  • Skyscanner – Our favourite. Skyscanner’s blog also has great tips for booking cheap flights. We recommend the search “Everywhere” tool for inspiration.
  • Momondo – A great airfare compare site if you’re a flexible traveller. Momondo will give you the cheapest dates to fly either side of your preferred travel dates.
  • Kayak – This little ripper is where to look for cheap flights if you want the full monty (the full price) including baggage and fees.

Also, if you keep an eye on these three beauties every day, it’s how to get cheap flights last minute. If you don’t know where to look for cheap flights – use a comparison site.

3. Be flexible

Do you want to know the ultimate tips for booking cheap flights?

Be flexible.

With your travel dates that is.

If you have a job/ employer that allows you flexibility with time off, then you’ll find very cheap flights.

It’s how to get cheap flights last minute as you’re more flexible with your travel dates. And there’s a bonus.

Being flexible with your travel dates will allow you to be choosy and you’ll find cheap airfare tickets.

If you’re looking for cheap flights to Europe, then be flexible.

European airlines publish very cheap flights, very often. So you’re guaranteed to grab a bargain.

4. Fly Tuesday and Wednesday

Choosing the right day to fly in the week is one of the best tips for booking cheap flights.

If you can’t travel in the week, and you want to know how to find cheap airline tickets on the weekend, fly on a Saturday.

But, you can forget your lie in because 95% of the very cheap flights fly out before 8am.

But, if it’s cheap – who cares?!

Don’t fly sundays if you can help it – it’s usually the most expensive day to catch a flight.

So remember this – airline ticket prices are cheapest on the most boring day of the week (Tuesday) and good old “Hump Day” (Wednesday).

Airfares tend to be lowest for flights that depart on Tuesdays and Wednesdays” – Airfarewatchdog

So there we have it! The experts agree.
